Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries Selects Accenture to Support Export Strategy Execution
From Accenture:
TOKYO; Sept. 8, 2016 – Accenture (NYSE: ACN) will provide management consulting services for Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) in support of its 2016 Export Strategy Execution Project. The project aims for early achievement of the government’s goal of expanding annual exports of Japanese agricultural, forestry and fishery products and foods to about ¥1 trillion by 2020.
The Japanese government is mobilizing public and private sector stakeholders for an aggressive export expansion initiative. In May of this year, the government formulated its export strategy for agriculture, forestry and fisheries and the Ministry is holding Export Strategy Executive Committee meetings -- including public and private sector experts – to verify progress toward export expansion.
Accenture will support the progress verification process with guidance from the Export Strategy Executive Committee. Accenture also will coordinate a survey and analysis of market trends and regulations, among relevant countries, and will support development of a framework to administer the export strategy. In addition, the company will support operation of subcommittees on key products and export themes, addressing marketing and distribution strategy, as well as regulatory aspects. In 2014, Accenture worked on an earlier phase of the project supporting the development of MAFF’s export expansion strategy and formation of export organizations for agriculture, forestry and fisheries commodities.
“We are very honored to be able to support facilitation of this project in support of a key priority of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries,” said Hiroshi Goto, managing director of Accenture Health & Public Service in Japan. “Building on work from 2014, we will leverage Accenture’s unsurpassed industry knowledge, experience, and global network to support expansion of Japan’s exports of agricultural, forestry and fishery products and foods.”

Accenture and READ India Partner to Empower Women in Rural Karnataka India
From Accenture:
Bangalore; Sept. 5, 2016 – To improve the employability and livelihood of more than 150 underprivileged women and young girls, Accenture (NYSE: ACN) and READ India are launching a rural community development center in Bagepalli in Karnataka. The initiative will provide life and work-skills training in areas such as self-confidence, gender sensitization, sewing and stitching, computer skills, local crafts and reading and writing.
The new center will include a multimedia and communications room, an IT area for ICT-based learning, a library and places where women can attend classes, participate in trainings and receive medical examinations. Sarva Dharma Samanvaya Trust, which has been running a school for children at Bagepalli since 2001, is providing the space for the center. More than 850 village households lie within a five kilometer radius of it; several of the villages offer limited professional and vocational options, and they lack basic healthcare, sanitation and education facilities.
“The rural development center is an extension of our collaborative work to bring systematic change within a community,” said Rekha M. Menon, chairman and managing director, Accenture in India. “The overarching goal is to encourage other non-profit and co-funding partners to work together to build an initiative that has far reaching impact and is based on a scalable model with sustainable outcomes. A rural community thrives when the engagement and programs are multi-faceted and address various needs together in a holistic manner.”
The launch of the center reflects Accenture’s global corporate citizenship initiative, Skills to Succeed, which is equipping more than 3 million people around the world by 2020 with the skills to get a job or build a business. The new effort extends the company’s commitment in Bagepalli, where, with RuralShores, it has been providing training and employment opportunities since 2013.
According to Geeta Malhotra, Director, READ India, “Combination of regular workshops on confidence building, personality development and life skills made women realize their potential. Adding income to the family helps them to create a position for themselves and also take decisions about their children’s future. Being in the environment of education and peer learning at READ Centres helps them resolve many common personal and societal issues.”
“As part of our Skills to Succeed initiative, we now have two full time programs running in Bagepalli apart from the Impact Sourcing initiative with RuralShores,” said Kshitija Krishnaswamy, director of corporate citizenship – Accenture in India. “At our skilling center in Bagepalli, through our partnership with DB Tech and Quest alliance, we have trained over 108 individuals and placed 87 of them in gainful employment. The rural community centre is another prong in our development efforts to raise the standard of living and employability in Bagepalli and surrounding villages.”

NEW YORK; Aug. 29, 2012 – Accenture (NYSE: ACN), a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company, and Avanade, a business technology solutions and managed services provider, have been recognized with several regional U.S. Partner of the Year awards for 2012 by Microsoft.
The U.S. East region was honored as Cloud Partner of the Year and the U.S. Central region was awarded the Enterprise Compete Partner of the Year. This marks the second consecutive year that Accenture and Avanade have been honored with these two awards. The Cloud Partner of the Year Award honors the partner that sold and deployed innovative solutions and services for customers with hybrid on-premises, public cloud and private cloud needs across the U.S. East region.
Microsoft also recognized Accenture and Avanade with the Enterprise Compete Partner of the Year for its work on strategic accounts across the central United States. Additionally, Accenture and Avanade were honored as the Northeast District Dynamics Partner of the Year for CRM. This award recognizes a Microsoft partner who provides innovative solutions based on Microsoft Dynamics CRM and fosters superior customer engagement in the Northeast District.
“Accenture and Avanade continually work with clients to achieve maximum performance from the Microsoft platform,” said Scott Harrison, global managing director of alliances channel management at Accenture. “As companies continue to look for ways to become more competitive, Accenture and Avanade are helping organizations achieve important business results through technology innovation in areas such as cloud computing and CRM, and in industries such as healthcare. We are pleased to be recognized by Microsoft for the results we have delivered to our clients.”
Aziz Virani, Avanade’s president of North America, said, “These awards reflect Accenture and Avanade’s commitment to enabling customers to harness the business benefits that can be achieved with the Microsoft platform. Press release:
August 27, 2012
Accenture Named Leader In Business Technology Transformation
NEW YORK; Aug. 27, 2012 – Accenture (NYSE: ACN) has been named a Leader in Business Technology Transformation by Forrester Research, Inc.
Forrester®, an independent global research and advisory firm, evaluated 10 companies and included Accenture as a Leader in a July 2012 independent report titled, “The Forrester Wave™: Business Technology Transformation, Q3 2012.”
“We believe Accenture’s Leader position in the Forrester Wave is a testament to our proven global capabilities and innovative approach to complex technology-enabled business transformations,” said Marty Cole, group chief executive, Technology at Accenture. “Our passion is helping our clients transform their businesses by applying a unique blend of broad industry knowledge, superior technology proficiencies, and exceptional business process management capabilities.”
The 10 vendors were evaluated against 18 specific criteria, which were grouped into three high-level buckets:
- Current offering.Forrester evaluated the transformation capability of each vendor, including assessing their ability to deliver a balance of both technology consulting and business consulting services.
- Strategy.Forrester evaluated the ability of providers to align IT transformation strategy with key business objectives.
- Market presence.Forrester analyzed the number of consultants who could be considered dedicated to technology-enabled business transformation, as well as the number of purely technology-focused consultants who could be leveraged for technology-enabled business transformation.
According to the report, “Accenture’s breadth and depth of offerings and its technology and business process expertise placed it firmly in the Leader category. In addition, Accenture believes that business transformation is the goal of the entire organization, not just a discrete group within Accenture. Thus, its consultants are able to deal with both the technology and business stakeholders. Accenture has outstanding knowledge management capability, and Accenture consultants view the reusable methods and IP and processes as the critical success factor in their everyday activities. Its ability to leverage institutional assets and knowledge allows Accenture more time and flexibility to innovate on behalf of its clients.
“In our view Forrester’s assessment of Accenture reflects our ability to meet market demand for strategic transformations that deliver real business value and measurable outcomes,” said Sander van ’t Noordende, group chief executive, Management Consulting at Accenture. “Clients expect us to help them improve margins, enter new markets and improve their agility. Technology can only deliver those goals if it is closely integrated with company strategy, business processes, talent and skills.”

Navy Mutual Launches New Life and Annuity Insurance System Based on Accenture's Software
Press release:
August 20, 2012
Navy Mutual Launches New Life and Annuity Insurance System Based on Accenture's Software
NEW YORK; Aug. 20, 2012 – The Navy Mutual Aid Association has gone live with the Accenture Life Insurance Platform, the life and annuity insurance software suite from Accenture (NYSE: ACN). The Platform supports Navy Mutual’s life and annuity product configuration, new business, underwriting and policy administration processing needs.
Navy Mutual selected the system, which was deployed earlier this month, to support growth, while enhancing overall customer service and keeping operating costs low.
"The new system, which supports virtually all of our processing needs across our business, is a key component of our growth agenda," said Bruce Engelhardt, president and CEO of Navy Mutual Aid Association. "We expect the Accenture Life Insurance Platform to deliver simplified product development functionality based on pre-configured processes, as well as real-time testing capabilities that should allow us to respond even more effectively to changing market conditions."
As part of the project, Accenture converted 138,000 policies from Navy Mutual's legacy systems using the Accenture Insurance Data Migration Factory, an end-to-end data migration solution. This conversion allows the insurer to handle all new business and service existing policies on a single platform.
“Cost pressures and market uncertainty continue in the life insurance business,” said Mitchel F. Ludwig, product line lead of Accenture Software for life insurance. “To compete more effectively, insurers must move new products to market as rapidly and cost-efficiently as possible, but that goal is often compromised by an aging and restrictive technology environment. Navy Mutual's new platform will enable the association to more easily create products that meet its members' needs and bring these to market faster.”
“This go-live also demonstrates that a project that involves the full replacement of multiple legacy systems and the migration of all existing policies onto a single modern platform can be realistic, affordable and achievable.”
About Navy Mutual Aid Association

Navy Mutual continues to support that mission today by providing exceptional life insurance and annuity products, assisting sea service members and their survivors in securing the federal benefits to which they are legally entitled, and providing education on matters of financial security which are specifically tailored to the military member and family. Accenture Develops Innovative Mobile App for the “Lux in Arcana – The Vatican Secret Archive Reveals Itself” Exhibition Featuring Never-Before-Seen Vatican Documents
App enables all 100 priceless documents of the exhibition to be accessible
on smartphones and tablet PCs; also features augmented reality solutions
ROME; March. 28, 2012 — Accenture (NYSE: ACN) announced today that it has developed a free mobile app that delivers rich multimedia content to the fingertips of visitors to an unprecedented exhibition featuring documents held in the Secret Vatican Archive that have never before been seen by the public and now can be admired at the Capitoline Museums in Rome.
The exhibition “Lux in Arcana – The Vatican Secret Archives Reveals Itself” features, among other things, documents such as ciphered letters, manuscripts, codices, and ancient parchments. The materials date from the eighth to the 20th century and the exhibition marks the first time they have ever been shown away from Vatican City. The items were unveiled at theCapitoline Museums in Rome on Feb. 29 and will remain on exhibit thru Sept. 9 of this year.
The mobile app developed by Accenture, which is the official technology partner of the exhibition, significantly enhances the experience of users by delivering supplemental details about the historical items to their smartphones and tablets for both Apple and Android. For example, the app displays technical data, photos and images, provides detailed background information, and features rich, multimedia content. The app allows users to see the documents by alphabetical or chronological order, by the typology (letter, agreement, papal document, etc.) and by the location in the Capitoline Museums halls. Visitors can also follow the path of the exhibition listening to the audio guide feature available through the app.
“Accenture has been an outstanding technology partner and we’re very pleased with the unique user experience that their mobile app delivers”, said Luca Carboni, General Secretary of the Secret Vatican Archive. “We believe the people expected to visit the exhibition will benefit tremendously from the rich content they can access through their devices as they tour the various exhibits.”
The app also features an “augmented reality” capability that can be used outside of the museum at some historical sites in Rome. One example is the statue of Giordano Bruno in the piazza Campo de’ Fiori. Giordano Bruno, a Dominican friar and philosopher, was burned at the stake in 1600’s after being judged a heretic by the Tribunal of the Roman Inquisition. The app allows visitors to focus their smartphone or tablet on the statue and see Bruno’s pyre burst into flames on the device’s display. It also allows visitors to open special contents related to Giordano Bruno’s trial and to call up videos with more information on his life and his ideas. Augmented reality is available also for the angels of the Castel Sant’Angelo bridge, carved by the Bernini, and for the Basilica of Santa Maria sopra Minerva, close to the place where Galileo Galilei abjured.
“We’re delighted to be the official technology sponsor of this extraordinary and unprecedented exhibition from the Secret Vatican Archive,” said Fabio Benasso, country managing director,Accenture Italy. “Our country possesses a treasure trove of culture and art that reflects many of the world’s most historical events and should be shared by as many people as possible.
As an integral and longstanding member of the Italian business community, Accenture is proud to support this important initiative celebrating this part of Italy’s cultural heritage.”
The app is available in Italian and English, and is compatible with almost all mobile devices. It can be downloaded from the Apple store or Google Play for free.
The exhibition “Lux in Arcana – The Vatican Secret Archive Reveals Itself” was conceived for the occasion of the fourth centenary of the Secret Vatican Archives foundation, in collaboration with Roma Capitale, Assessorato alle Politiche Culturali e Centro Storico - Sovraintendenza ai Beni Culturali di Roma and Zètema Progetto Cultura.
