Press release from Accenture:

August 30, 2012
Accenture to Acquire NewsPage, a Leading Provider of Integrated Distributor Management and Mobility Software for the Consumer Goods Industry

NEW YORK; Aug. 30, 2012 – Accenture (NYSE:ACN) has entered into an agreement to acquire Singapore-based NewsPage Pte Ltd (“NewsPage”), a leading provider of integrated distributor management and mobility software for the consumer goods industry in emerging markets.

NewsPage provides software products to some of the world’s largest consumer goods companies. Upon closing, the acquisition will complement the capabilities of the Accenture CAS software platform, a leading integrated software platform that supports the consumer goods industry sales processes, and help strengthen its capabilities in emerging markets. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The Accenture CAS software platform helps consumer goods companies achieve greater trade efficiency and sales by enabling improved product availability on the shelf and increasing their ability to efficiently collaborate with retailers, while supporting the management of large, mobile sales and distribution forces.

Upon closing, the acquisition of NewsPage will add distributor management and mobility capabilities to the Accenture CAS software platform through a lean, user-friendly application. Also, NewsPage will bring a multi-platform mobility capability to the Accenture CAS solution, allowing it to run on Windows, Android and iOS devices. NewsPage’s products are delivered on a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) basis or on-location.

The combination of the Accenture CAS software platform and NewsPage’s products will offer consumer goods companies the ability to manage all of their sales processes on a single global sales platform – from trade promotion management and optimization to retail execution, and from distributor management to direct store delivery, merchandising and customer service.

“This acquisition is important as it will enhance Accenture’s ability to help global consumer goods companies by supporting all route-to-market sales and delivery models across mature and emerging markets,” said Fabio Vacirca, senior managing director of Accenture’s Consumer Goods & Services practice. “NewsPage has a strong client base of global consumer goods brands that have benefited from its products. Its addition will strengthen Accenture’s software capabilities in emerging markets and reinforce Accenture’s position as a leading provider of integrated sales software for the consumer goods industry.”

Once the transaction has closed, approximately 128 NewsPage employees will join Accenture, and will continue to focus on product development, client sales and delivery. This team will be integrated into the Accenture Software organization.

“We are pleased that Accenture has recognized the strength of the NewsPage products, and the valuable work that we deliver for our clients,” said Tim Yoon, CEO of NewsPage. “We believe that the combination of our two organizations will create a compelling offer for consumer goods companies in emerging markets. Now we will be able to meet our client’s software implementation needs in countries outside of our traditional geographic area, benefiting from Accenture’s global reach and experience. This will be particularly useful where clients want business process changes before they implement the software platform.”

The acquisition is subject to closing requirements and is expected to close within 60 days.

Wipro Launches Cloud Based NextGen Care Mgt. Solution for Healthcare

Wipro Launches Cloud Based NextGen Care Management Solution for US Healthcare Market
Thursday, March 15, 2012
Wipro Technologies, the Global Information Technology, Consulting and Outsourcing business of Wipro Limited (NYSE: WIT), announced the launch of its NextGen Care Management solution for the US healthcare market, specifically aimed at primary care physicians and healthcare providers. The objectives of the Wipro solution are aligned with the United States' Medical Home and Accountable Care Organization (ACO) program to enable personalized, affordable and quality care. Wipro's NextGen Care Management solution enables physicians to drive patient participation in devising a personalized care plan with defined care goals, treatment plan and health improvement activities.
Wipro's application is built on Force.comsalesforce.com's social enterprise platform for employee facing social apps and, is uniquely positioned as a cloud based care management services and adopts the core principles of patient centricity, coordinated healthcare, interoperability, mobility, and outcome to better manage chronic, post-acute and elderly patient population.
General physicians and specialists can now experience continuity of information through a longitudinal view of patient's medical history, assessment and clinical reports. Primary care physicians and specialists can also form Medical Care panels, online, to be deeply engaged with the patients to maintain long term relationships and facilitate care across the continuum.
The built-in collaboration platform in the solution uses tools such as sms, chat, alerts, reminders, activity workflows and helps in reducing cost by avoiding treatment overlaps, multiple clinical tests or hospitalization. With the Obama Care act expanding healthcare coverage to an additional 32 million Americans, healthcare payers (insurance companies) and providers have to manage a huge influx of new members - an 81% growth, into the system. Outsourcing Extends to Creative Work

By BEN SISARIO

Drew Smith found himself in the same position as many independent musicians trying to make a living in the struggling music business. He had no record label to underwrite his career, no publicity machine to get his music into listeners’ hands and not nearly enough money to make a music video.

So he followed the route of big business and outsourced the video to India.

Last October, Mr. Smith contracted a dance school in Bangalore, India, to make a video for his song “Smoke and Mirrors” featuring original Bollywood-style choreography and Indian actors dressed as Hindu demigods and tossing colored festival powders.

The production values may be a little amateurish by MTV standards, but for $2,000 it cost a small fraction of the typical budget for a professional film. And Mr. Smith has attracted some of music’s most important currency: attention. Since being posted to YouTube on Feb. 2 “Smoke and Mirrors” has been watched more than 179,000 times, and a recent post about it by Mr. Smith’s brother became one of the top articles on Reddit, the social link aggregator.

The video is one example of the breadth of outsourcing, which has come to include the kind of highly specialized skills — like microchip design, which I.B.M. contracted to an Indian company in 2005 — that were once considered unexportable. Companies in the West often claim that while they outsource factory jobs, the creative and innovative work is still done at home.

“You hear so much about big corporations outsourcing,” Mr. Smith said by phone on a break from his day job teaching English to immigrants in Hamilton, Ontario. “I was just trying to think of a unique way to release the album and promote it.”

While outsourcing was once viewed strictly as a cost-cutting privilege of giant corporations, it is increasingly available to smaller companies and even individuals.
