SunExpress Airlines prepares for European CPDLC mandate with Rockwell Collins Link 2000+ solution
PARIS (June 19, 2013) – Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa’s joint venture, SunExpress, will be retrofitting its entire Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft with Rockwell Collins’ Link 2000+ solution to comply with Eurocontrol’s Controller Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC) airspace requirement. First installation will begin in late 2013.
Rockwell Collins’ Link 2000+ solution for air transport aircraft consists of its industry-leading VHF-2100 Very High Frequency Transceiver, CMU-900 Communications Management Unit, APM-900 Aircraft Personality Module and CPDLC-enabling software.
By early 2015, all air transport aircraft that operate above 28,500 feet in Europe will be required to be CPDLC capable.
“The CPDLC mandate is quickly approaching and SunExpress will be ready,” said Jeff Standerski, vice president and general manager, Air Transport Systems for Rockwell Collins. “Our robust Link 2000+ solution ensures compatibility, which will improve air traffic management and capacity throughout Europe.”
