Iberia Airlines readies for future European airspace requirements with Rockwell Collins VHF-2100 transceiver upgrade

Rockwell Collins News Release:

Iberia Airlines readies for future European airspace requirements with Rockwell Collins VHF-2100 transceiver upgrade
PARIS (June 19, 2013) – Spain-based Iberia Airlines has elected to upgrade its entire single-aisle fleet with Rockwell Collins’ industry-leading VHF-2100 Very High Frequency Transceiver, which complies with current voice and data link requirements, and enables the future Controller Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC) European airspace requirement. Implementation of the new transceivers is in progress.
The Rockwell Collins VHF-2100 is a multi-mode data radio that provides full digital voice and data communications, such as Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) and VHF Data Link (VDL) Mode 2 operations, while still delivering traditional analog abilities. The radio meets all ARINC flight worthiness standards and is certified for all Airbus and Boeing aircraft.
By early 2015, all air transport aircraft that operate above 28,500 feet in Europe will be required to be CPDLC capable as part of Eurocontrol’s Link 2000+ program to increase air traffic management capacity. Rockwell Collins’ VHF-2100 is designed with sufficient memory, increased microprocessor power and advanced radio frequency technology to meet this requirement and is flexible for any additional future airspace voice and data link requirements.
