Oracle Press Release
Oracle Communications Service Fulfillment Solution Processes More Than 500,000 Orders per Hour with Sub-second Order Latencies, Far Exceeding Industry Expectations
Performance Test of Oracle Communications Solution Running on Oracle Exadata Database Machine and Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud Delivers Unprecedented Results
Redwood Shores, Calif. – June 25, 2013
News Summary
A recent performance test of Oracle Communications Service Fulfillment solution running on Oracle engineered systems exceeded the performance expectations of a large Western European telecommunications provider. Oracle designs its engineered systems to reduce the cost and complexity of IT infrastructures while increasing productivity and performance, which helped the Oracle solution process more than half a million service orders per hour.
News Facts
Oracle today released the results of a performance test demonstrating that Oracle Communications Order and Service Management 7.2 and Oracle Communications ASAP 7.2, running on Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud X2-2 and Oracle Exadata Database Machine X2-2 machines, can meet exceptional performance and latency requirements for service fulfillment of fixed and mobile communications services.
Faced with mobile subscriber growth, expanding service portfolios and the increased use of online sales channels, communications service providers (CSPs) are seeking proven solutions that fulfill higher volumes of customer orders with predictably lower latencies to support increasingly near real time service fulfillment for customer orders.
The performance test was conducted in conjunction with, and using the detailed requirements of, a large Western European CSP seeking a high-performance service fulfillment solution to support both fixed and mobile services spanning tens of millions of subscribers.
Oracle’s engineered system approach delivered a highly optimized configuration, which helped maximize system output. The performance test, conducted in early 2013, was able to successfully process:
More than 500,000 service orders per hour, representing three times the CSP’s current peak load and helping to ensure the provider could scale to meet future growth
2.5 million orders in less than seven hours, helping to ensure customer orders are fulfilled rapidly and to improve end-user satisfaction
Revenue-impacting orders with latencies of less than 300 milliseconds, enabling faster online service fulfillment of customer orders
These results, which exceeded all the CSP’s requirements, required less than 10 percent of the processing power available with Oracle’s Exalogic X2-2 and Exadata X2-2 machines, enabling future consolidation of other processing-intensive applications onto the platform.
