How Libertarians Can Stop Getting Trounced

Libertarians have done a good job when it comes to economics, and a terrible job when it comes to filmmaking and entertainment. Unfortunately, a lot of people form their views of the world from films and other forms of entertainment.

Today, almost everything that comes out of Hollywood is made by people with leftist perspectives. Voices of conservatism, libertarianism and free markets are few and far between. Patrick Reasonover and his organization are trying to produce entertainment that comes from a view that receives little exposure.

To be successful, the stories must first and foremost be good stories. Libertarian movies or even Christian movies are often not very good because they are Libertarian or Christian first and movies second. To be successful, a movie must be a good movie first, with its guiding inspiration in the background.

At about 12:00, Tom Woods, the host, mentions Crimes of Communism as a possible theme. The leftists in Hollywood have left this theme virtually untouched. The Killing Fields is one exception. But in the 20th century, communism was responsible for a vast number of atrocities. The stories that could be told based on actual events could go on for a long, long time.

In film and in other areas of entertainment, storytelling from a libertarian perspective is a huge void that needs to be filled.

Patrick Reasonover and his organization are putting on workshops to help young film makers with a freedom-loving orientation get started.
