NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--HCA (NYSE:HCA) today announced the company’s affiliation with Santa Clara County Independent Practice Association (SCCIPA) through a reorganization of SCCIPA and HCA’s acquisition of Pacific Partners Management Services, Inc. (PPMSI), the manager of SCCIPA. SCCIPA is a network of more than 800 physicians in the San Jose, Calif. area where HCA operates Good Samaritan Hospital and Regional Medical Center of San Jose.
Founded in 1986, SCCIPA includes primary care physicians, specialists and other ancillary service providers who care for more than 90,000 managed care plan participants. SCCIPA and PPMSI will be affiliated with HCA’s Physician Services Group. PPMSI also manages one other independent practice association in the area.
“SCCIPA is a comprehensive network of leading independent physicians and, like HCA, has focused for many years on continually improving patient outcomes,” said Dr. Michael S. Cuffe, president of HCA’s Physician Services Group. “We are pleased to affiliate with SCCIPA physicians, and we look forward to working together to continue to meet the healthcare needs of this community.”
“We are very proud of what has been created at SCCIPA and PPMSI and feel this affiliation with HCA’s Physician Services Group provides a solid foundation for the successful future practice of medicine by both our primary care doctors and our specialty physician network,” said Dr. J. Kersten Kraft, president and chairman of the board of SCCIPA. “I personally believe this event will be a legacy that preserves the delivery of high quality healthcare in the Silicon Valley and beyond.”
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Founded in 1968, HCA is one of the nation’s leading providers of healthcare services, comprising locally managed facilities that include 167 hospitals and 113 surgery centers in 20 states and the United Kingdom.
