Cerner to Present Comprehensive Preventive Care Solutions at Cerner Health Conference

October 31, 2014
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Oct. 31, 2014 — Cerner Corporation (Nasdaq: CERN) today announced it will present its Preventive Care Advisor solution during the Cerner Health Conference (CHC) next week in Kansas City. The solution delivers real-time lists of eligible Medicare-approved preventive screenings, which can help improve care and overall patient wellness.
In 2013, Preventive Care Advisor won a CIO 100 award, presented by CIO Magazine, for integrating preventive screenings seamlessly into the daily workflow for physician practices. The Affordable Care Act offers a majority of these preventive screenings to patients without copays or deductibles. Reported results show physician practices have seen a 50 to 200 percent increase in Annual Wellness Visits and other preventive screenings within 90 days of solution implementation.
“We are delighted these solutions are contributing to Cerner’s mission of improving health care and the health of communities,” said Scott Leftwich, Cerner Vice President and General Manager of InterMedHx Operations. “We believe that embedding these patient data analytics solutions into Cerner’s Millennium®, HealtheIntent and CareAware® platforms can help drive better patient care at a lower cost.”
Another solution to be presented at CHC is Cerner Virtual Patient Observer a proprietary overseer system to monitor high fall risk and behavioral patients. It utilizes Microsoft’s Kinect sensor system to detect risky patient movement in a hospital or home environment. With Cerner Virtual Patient Observer, a nurse technician can monitor multiple patient rooms from one central monitoring station and quickly intervene.
“With these new offerings, Preventive Care Advisor and Virtual Patient Observer, our clients will benefit from valuable patient analytics that will further differentiate our population health strategies as health care shifts from fee-for-service toward a value-based model,” said Zane Burke, President of Cerner.
Scott Leftwich and Cerner Senior Director Caleb Anderson will present the Preventive Care AdvisorTM solution on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at CHC, which runs Nov. 2-5. Cerner’s Virtual Patient ObserverTM solution for fall prevention will also be demonstrated.
