BroadCloud Delivers Flexible and Scalable Disaster Recovery Services Built on CA ARCserve

CA Technologies Solution Helps Managed IT Infrastructure Provider Meet SLAs, Maximize Efficiency and Reduce Costs
ISLANDIA, N.Y., August 27, 2102 – CA Technologies (NASDAQ: CA)  today announced that BroadCloud, a leading managed IT infrastructure provider, is using CA ARCserve® to provide comprehensive disaster recovery (DR) services to help customers ensure that data is secure and highly available.
BroadCloud provides managed hosting, managed services, co-location and high-value data management solutions that help customers address four key challenges: data resilience, business and technology alignment, transformation risks and compliance.
BroadCloud’s business is increasingly focused on public, hybrid and private cloud services, which are delivered from more than 60 data centers worldwide. The company provides specially designed private cloud services from high-security facilities that help customers comply with HIPAA, SOX, FISMAN and data protection regulations.
• Meet service level agreements, which are critical to its reputation and customer satisfaction;
• Maximize efficiency, which enables the company to manage disaster recovery processes for hundreds of customers with just 40 engineers; and
• Meet customer needs around costs and compliance.
BroadCloud was using a range of tools from a number of suppliers to support its recovery management services, due to the diversity of the systems being protected and customer preferences. This time-consuming approach added to the company’s service management burden.
“With CA ARCserve, our disaster recovery processes are now fully automated and require minimal manual intervention,” said Brent Eubanks, executive vice president of Strategic Services at BroadCloud. “We can provision new customers with the level of recovery management they need very quickly. The ability to provide cost-effective and compliant recovery management services enhances our competitive advantage and helps us retain and attract customers from a range of industries.”
BroadCloud is using CA ARCserve to underpin its multi-tier recovery management and data resiliency services. The company protects several petabytes of data using the solutions, which enable simple centralized recovery management across its client base.
“CA ARCserve solutions enable us to back up and restore data from the cloud very easily,” said Eubanks. “They are ideal for those customer systems that need to be recovered within a few hours.”
To support more demanding customer workloads, such as email, ERP (enterprise resource planning) and CRM (customer relationship management) systems, BroadCloud uses CA ARCserve® Replication and CA ARCserve® High Availability.
“With real-time replication and high availability clusters, we can fail over between data centers in minutes to ensure that customer systems suffer negligible downtime in the event of an incident,” said Eubanks.
“Service providers face especially challenging objectives when it comes to scalably, reliably and resource-efficiently protecting large volumes of distributed data,” said Steve Fairbanks, vice president, Data Management, CA Technologies.  “BroadCloud's success highlights just how well-suited CA ARCserve is for these highly challenging environments—and how broadly applicable it is for all kinds of data protection needs.”

News Release from MICROS Systems

PRESTIGIOUS WYNN LAS VEGAS AND ENCORE CASINO RESORTS TO ADVANCE TECHNOLOGY PORTFOLIO WITH MICROS SIMPHONY ENTERPRISE SOLUTION IN THE CLOUD

Columbia, MD – March 13, 2012—MICROS Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:MCRS), a leading provider of information technology solutions for the hospitality and retail industries, is pleased to announce that Wynn Resorts  has selected MICROS’s Simphony™ Enterprise Solution for its Wynn Las Vegas and Encore casino resort properties.  MICROS will complete its enterprise-wide conversion upgrade from the MICROS 9700 Hospitality Management System (HMS) and other Legacy POS solutions to the MICROS Simphony Software as a Service (SaaS) enterprise solution in the cloud on March 31st.  The project encompasses over 100 Revenue Centers located across the two casino resort properties and includes over 500 MICROS Workstation 5A (WS5A) point-of-service terminals.
“Wynn Resorts is already realizing the tangible benefits of Simphony’s advanced technology as well as MICROS’s highly structured project management through this seamless upgrade,” stated James Houghton, Chief Information Officer, Wynn Resorts, Limited.   “Our food and beverage operations now enjoy the benefits of a smooth and uninterrupted technology platform which ensures our guests’ experience remains excellent.”
Wynn Las Vegas and Encore continue to set the bar for luxury and excellence in Las Vegas, earning top honors and recognitions, including the 2012 Forbes Travel Guide Star awards (formerly Mobil Travel Guide Star awards). Wynn Resorts selected MICROS Simphony for its advanced technology and proven capabilities in the industry, which include enterprise configuration and functionality, a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), and inherent offline resiliency and scalability in a global, multi-property casino resort environment.   MICROS Simphony’s SOA approach provides Wynn Resorts management the ability to strategically place critical services across the enterprise.  In the event of a planned or unplanned outage, Simphony is able to operate detached from the hosting center or server.  This design allows all system interfaces to continue to function: credit card authorizations, liquor dispensing systems, posting to the property management system, gaming and video surveillance systems all while remaining able to share checks among terminals and print to the remote service locations.
As the look and feel of MICROS Simphony is similar to the MICROS 9700 Hospitality Management System, Wynn Resorts is able to leverage its employees’ familiarity with MICROS to reduce training time, as well as utilize new screen option layouts to improve guest service.  MICROS Simphony is also highly flexible, offering advanced interface capabilities to third-party peripheral products such as player tracking systems, liquor dispensing systems, and stored value cards.
“We are pleased to be able to offer Wynn Resorts an enterprise solution that offers a multitude of features and benefits and one which will improve the everyday operational efficiency at its properties,” stated Tom Giannopoulos, Chairman and CEO of MICROS Systems, Inc.  “MICROS Simphony will create a smoother interaction between property employees and guests and provide Wynn Resorts management with strong visibility of each property through one centralized set of reports.”
“The scalability of MICROS Simphony is a big factor in our decision to upgrade,” stated James Houghton.  “We have a reputation of pushing the limits in guest service and MICROS Simphony’s next generation solutions will scale to meet our growing demands.”

Oni Launches New Cloud Services for Enterprises Using CA Technologies Cloud Platform

The Portuguese Telecom and IT Group Will Reduce Time to Market for New Services With the CA AppLogic® Platform
ISLANDIA, N.Y. and LISBON, March 13, 2012 – CA Technologies (NASDAQ:CA) today announced that Oni, the Portuguese telecom and IT group, has signed an agreement to use the CA AppLogic® cloud computing platform to deliver the benefits of cloud-based services to the enterprise market in Portugal.
Oni focuses exclusively on serving large enterprises. In today’s fast moving environment, these customers need to launch business services quickly each time their competitive landscape changes. Instead of ordering new servers, assembling the necessary components, and configuring the various hardware and services, Oni will use the CA AppLogic platform to quickly deploy IT infrastructure and services for customers in hours instead of months.
Using the platform’s simple drag and drop interface, Oni can rapidly build new cloud services for customers, thereby helping them to decrease time-to-market, and giving them the flexibility to respond to new market opportunities. With the CA AppLogic platform, customers will only pay for what they consume, and when the business service is no longer needed, it can be shut down without disposing physical hardware, driving cost efficiencies.
“The CA AppLogic platform is a unique, turnkey solution that addresses the disruptive nature of cloud computing. By selecting this platform, we will be able to help our large enterprise customers reap the full benefits of cloud services,” said Miguel Allen Lima, chief executive officer of Knewon, the IT company of Oni Group. “We chose this platform based on its fast deployment capabilities and for its ability to support IaaS, PaaS and SaaS. Now, we will be able to rapidly deliver cloud services in a cost-effective way, without expanding our IT staff or making large physical infrastructure investments. This solution is truly an IT performance accelerator. Our new mantra is: ‘think of hours instead of weeks or months.’”
Oni benefits from CA Technologies Business Service Innovation approach, which will enable the company to deliver business services more quickly and allow its enterprise customers to capitalize on disruptive and innovative trends in IT.

“Oni’s new cloud offering built on our platform will clearly help shorten the time and costs associated with launching new cloud-based business services,” said Pedro Ligero, vice president of Area Sales for Iberia, CA Technologies. “With the CA AppLogic platform, Oni is expanding its broad set of offerings and helping its large enterprise customers to drive innovation and create new opportunities for competitive advantage.”
