GE Donates $23,000 to Cristo Rey Atlanta Jesuit High School

ATLANTA—July 30, 2015—GE’s (NYSE: GE) Power Generation Services business recently donated $23,000 to Cristo Rey Atlanta Jesuit High School to help support the career development of the local teenagers who attend the school.

“The Cristo Rey community is grateful for this donation from GE as we continue to help guide and develop successful career paths and offer the chance to explore different career choices for teens in our community that otherwise may not have had such opportunities,” said Bill Garrett, president, Cristo Rey Atlanta Jesuit High School.

Cristo Rey Atlanta educates high school students of limited economic means to become men and women of faith, purpose and service. In addition to a rigorous college preparatory curriculum, the Cristo Rey students help pay for this education through a Corporate Work Study Program in which every individual works five full days each month in entry-level clerical jobs at law firms, hospitals, banks and other professional institutions.

“We are excited to host a work study program for Cristo Rey students, which will allow both leaders and employees from our business to mentor the students as they learn how to succeed in a corporate workplace,” said Paul McElhinney, president and CEO of GE’s Power Generation Services business. “We look forward to the students learning invaluable work skills such as how to communicate verbally and in writing, solve problems, manage time and deal with conflict.”

Beginning in September, GE’s Power Generation Services business will partner with Cristo Rey's Corporate Work Study Program to host 12 student interns who will be based in Atlanta and primarily support GE’s global operations organization.

McElhinney, along with GE leaders Vickie Tawney, Swati Joshi and Kathy Chang, presented the donation check to Cristo Rey on behalf of GE’s Power Generation Services business and its 17,000 employees around the world. This donation is part of the recognition the group earned as the 2014 GE Growth Business of the Year from GE Chairman and CEO Jeff Immelt earlier this year.
