"Our Mobile Assistant App is one more way we are helping our global customers take charge of their health and health care."
HARTFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aetna’s international customers living outside the United States now have one less hassle: They can use their smartphones to handle their health claims paperwork – no matter where they are.
This week, Aetna (NYSE: AET), a leading global diversified health care benefits company, introduced its Mobile Assistant App that lets its international customers file their medical claims and receipts right from their smartphones. Available for both iPhones and Android phones, the app is easy to use, fast and secure. Members can use the camera on their phones to take pictures of their documents and, with a click, submit their claims.
“At Aetna, we are harnessing the power of technology to connect our customers to personal health data so they can manage all aspects of their health, on their terms, when and where it suits them,” said Sandip Patel, head of Aetna International. “Our Mobile Assistant App is one more way we are helping our global customers take charge of their health and health care.”
Currently available to Aetna’s international customers living outside of the U.S., the Mobile Assistant App will be rolled out to U.S. expatriates later this year. The app is not available for members covered by health benefit plans in China, where regulations require original documents to be submitted.
The free Mobile Assistant App can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
Aetna has been a pioneer in developing mobile technology tools to help its customers manage their health and health care. The company offers free provider directory apps that let its international members find nearby doctors and hospitals in Aetna’s network of more than 70,000 international providers and more than one million providers in the U.S. Aetna also has apps that can help its customers understand their symptoms, monitor their exercise and eating habits, and track their claims.
In December 2012, Aetna was honored with an Asia-EMMA award for the most innovative use of technology in global mobility by the Forum for Expatriate Management.
