$10 Million Expansion Positions Sensoplan as an Industry Leader in Turnkey Generator Services and Repairs
- Expanded Facility to Offer High Speed Balancing for Generator Rotors
- New Capabilities will Serve Customers in Europe, the Middle East and Asia
- Expansion will Produce 10 Percent Growth in Jobs for Sensoplan
HOHENTENGEN, GERMANY—September 24, 2012—Sensoplan, one of Europe’s leading maintenance and upgrade service providers for large generators and steam turbines, recently completed a $10 million facility expansion to enable world-class turnkey service and repair capabilities. The facility now offers high speed balancing (HSB) and heat run testing, key technology and maintenance activities to help ensure reliable power plant operation.
HSB verifies the mechanical integrity of rotor design prior to unit installation. It is particularly important after rotor repairs, refurbishments or power upgrades to ensure smooth generator operation.
Several customers joined Sensoplan executives for an official inauguration of the facility expansion today in Hohentengen. Following the ceremony, customers toured the shop’s new features, including an up-close demonstration of its high-speed balancing process.
“This facility is equipped with the most advanced tools and test instrumentation available,” said Günter Ebi, general manager of Sensoplan. “Adding HSB capability now positions us to offer 100 percent turnkey, in-house generator rotor services quicker, and at a lower cost, for our customers.”
Sensoplan offers a complete range of services for generators in Europe, serving about 90 percent of the installed assets throughout the region. The company has offices in Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States, and serves major international utilities and independent power producers.
