market in China YGWS uses refrigerant R-134a, giving more options to users wanting environmentally-friendly, cost-effective chillers
SHANGHAI – (October 29, 2015) – Johnson Controls introduces the new water-cooled screw chiller, YGWS, to China. Designed for the light commercial market, YGWS is cost-effective, environment-friendly and is suitable for a broad range of facilities including hotels, retail stores, small factories and hospitals.
As one of the last countries globally where Hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) refrigerants are still commonly used in chillers, China is increasing efforts on its HCFC phase-out management plan to meet its commitment to the Montreal Protocol. YGWS uses a safe and non-flammable Hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerant, R-134a, which has a lower impact on the environment compared to HCFC refrigerants, and does not have a phase-out date.
YGWS’s coefficient of performance, a measure of energy efficiency, is higher than that of other water-cooled screw chillers in the light commercial market. This is the result of the compressor’s highly efficient rotor profile, which has a proven track record since its introduction to the market in 2006, operating around the clock without any rotor nor motor breakdown. The chiller can also be connected to a Building Automation System, including BCM and Metasys® from Johnson Controls, further enhancing operational efficiency and plant management.
“With YGWS, Johnson Controls is responding to the market’s demand for higher performance of HVAC equipment at a competitive price. Johnson Controls is building up a comprehensive product portfolio to meet the needs of a wide range of customers,” said Steven Situ, director of engineered systems and solutions, Johnson Controls Building Efficiency China.
Johnson Controls offers five comfort cooling models with capacities ranging from 99 to 193 tons under this YGWS series. In the near future, the range will be extended up to 330 tons, and more functions such as four-pipe heat-recovery and heat pump will be available.
