Medtronic Responds to Nepal Earthquake

More than $1 Million Given in Financial Aid, Product Donations, Employee Contributions DUBLIN - May 14, 2015 - Medtronic plc (NYSE: MDT) announced today that it has pledged $100,000 to the American Red Cross to support earthquake relief efforts in Nepal, bringing the company's total current response to more than $1 million in cash and products.  The $100,000 directed to the American Red Cross will help it support the Nepal Red Cross in recovery efforts and provide basic needs for injured and displaced residents. Medtronic has also donated an estimated $780,000 in medical supplies to three organizations:  AmeriCares, Direct Relief, and Project HOPE.   Spine and cervical fusion kits will be used to treat crush injuries, while masks and wound care products such as gauze, sutures, dressings, and ointments will be used in hospitals and medical camps in Kathmandu and surrounding areas.
