Duke Energy helps Plainfield launch neighborhood book exchange

PLAINFIELD, IND. -
Duke Energy joined representatives of the Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library today to install the first 'Little Free Library" in Plainfield.
The libraries are essentially boxes where the community can exchange books for free. People can take and leave books of their choosing.
The first structure was installed today in the Duke Energy garden near the pedestrian bridge and Dairy Queen in Plainfield. It is one of 10 that Duke Energy volunteers built.
The library plans to install at least 20 at various sites around Plainfield, including areas that do not have direct access to the library, such as the north side of US 40. The Hendricks County Arts Council will be decorating the structures.
The library also will be stocking the structures with free books that have been donated by the Friends of the Library as well as the local Barnes & Noble. There also will be literature in the boxes on how to get a library card as well as information on other library resources.
The Little Free Library project is designed to help cultivate the love of reading and lifelong learning within the community.
