REPORT: IBM Mainframe Leads in Worldwide Revenue Share for $250K Servers, Growing 118 Percent Year-to-Year
ARMONK, NY - 28 May 2015: IDC reported that IBM (NYSE: IBM) achieved worldwide server factory revenue growth of 66.1 percent year-over-year in the first quarter of 2015 in $250K+ servers. [1]
With the z Systems' marketplace acceptance, a new generation of students is learning mainframe skills through the Master the Mainframe contest. In its 10th year, more than 74,000 students have participated in the Master the Mainframe program. In 2016, Master the Mainframe will host its second World Championship.
"During the past 18 months, IBM’s server strategy has undergone a massive transformation as we deepen our investment in high value servers," said Tom Rosamilia, senior vice president for IBM Systems. "With the introduction of the z13 and the POWER8 processor, it is clear that we are offering clients differentiated products to handle the demands that industry disruptors like cloud, analytics, mobile, social and security put on businesses everyday."
