Optum360 Wins “2015/2016 Category Leader” for Its Computer-Assisted Coding Platform for Second Consecutive Year
  • Health care technology research firm KLAS cites Optum360 CAC platform’s performance and ease-of-use
  • Optum Enterprise CAC helps simplify hospitals’ adherence to essential compliance requirements

WAKEFIELD, Mass. (Feb. 23, 2016) —
Optum360 won the 2015/2016 Category Leader award for Computer-Assisted Coding (CAC) from KLAS, a leading global health care research organization. This is the second consecutive year Optum360 has taken the top honor for computer-assisted coding technology.
The Optum Enterprise CAC platform enables hospitals to focus on what’s important – caring for their patients – by simplifying adherence to essential compliance requirements. Optum’s Enterprise CAC helps hospitals and health systems improve overall medical coding accuracy and specificity and increase coding staff productivity. Ensuring hospitals and health systems assign accurate medical codes helps accelerate payments, streamline revenue-cycle processes and reduce claim denials. Hospitals using Optum Enterprise CAC have seen strong performance on traditional measures and smooth transitions to the new ICD-10 medical coding system.
“We are honored that KLAS recognizes our Enterprise Computer-Assisted Coding platform as setting the industry standard,” said Ron Jones, CEO, Optum360. “This recognition reflects our clients’ confidence as we help them modernize, serve patients and improve efficiency.”
Clients using Optum Enterprise CAC have found the platform easy to implement and have consistently experienced strong results. Hospitals have documented increases in productivity and revenue gains due to improved accuracy, efficiency and shortened revenue cycles.
Optum360 internal operating data show that – despite industry projections that health care organizations making the shift to the modern ICD-10 requirements would reduce coder productivity anywhere from 30 percent to 50 percent – Optum’s Enterprise CAC clients saw significantly less productivity loss and are quickly returning to pre-ICD-10 productivity levels.
“The actual implementation and rollout of Optum360 Enterprise CAC went really smoothly because the product is so easy to use,” said one Optum Enterprise CAC user and KLAS survey respondent. “The user interface is very simple. The training went very quickly...”
