KeyBank Hostage-Style Robbery in Ontario, Ohio

The Cleveland Division of the FBI, along with the Richland County Sheriff’s Office and the Ontario Police Department, is seeking the public’s assistance in an unsolved hostage style bank robbery that occurred in Ontario, Ohio on November 5-6, 2015.
On Thursday, November 5, 2015, an unknown suspect entered a KeyBank employee’s home while no one was present. The suspect ultimately held the KeyBank employee and his young family hostage at gunpoint overnight until the morning of Friday, November 6, 2015. On the morning of November 6, 2015, the Key Bank employee traveled to his place of employment—KeyBank, 688 North Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario, Ohio—as demanded by the armed suspect and removed an undisclosed amount of money prior to the bank opening. The bank employee returned home and provided the money to the suspect, and the suspect then released the bank employee’s family and fled the area. No physical injuries were reported by the bank employee or his family.
The subject is described as a white male in his late teens to early 20s in age, approximately 5’8” to 5’10” tall, approximately 120-140 pounds, skinny build, with short, light brown hair. The subject was wearing a white collared shirt, shiny black shoes, a black fedora with a red feather, and a white bandanna over his face. A composite sketch of the subject is below.

He was armed with a silver pistol that had a black hand-grip. The getaway vehicle is described as a tan-colored Ford Taurus, possibly a 2008 or 2009 model (similar to the one pictured below).

It is believed that a second suspect was involved in this hostage-style bank robbery by serving as a look out and driver. At this time, no identifiers are available on this second suspect.

A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to the successful identification and prosecution of the individual responsible for this robbery. Tip providers can remain anonymous.
