FedEx has once again won praise for its sustainability initiatives.
Rob Carter, Executive Vice President, Information Services/Chief Information Officer at FedEx Corporation, was honored this month with the C.K. Prahalad Award for Global Business Sustainability Leadership. The committee recognized Carter’s role in guiding the digital transformation of FedEx through technologies that improve data management operational efficiency, helping the company lower costs and reduce greenhouse emissions.
Other accolades mentioned include the development and international rollout of SenseAware® and the use of Bloom solid oxide energy cells to power the Oakland, California, hub. The LEED Certified Enterprise Data Center in Colorado Springs was also recognized for being among the most energy-efficient data centers in the United States, and a great example of groundbreaking efforts on the part of FedEx to reduce energy use and emission from IT operations
The C.K. Prahalad Award was created to honor the vision and life’s work of the late Dr. C.K. Prahalad, one of the world’s most influential business strategists.
This year’s other honorees are Tamara “TJ” DiCaprio from Microsoft, and The Global Water Challenge.
