New SAP NetWeaver Decision Service Management to Empower Business Experts to Control Decision Logic Across Enterprise Applications

Press release:

New SAP NetWeaver Decision Service Management to Empower Business Experts to Control Decision Logic Across Enterprise Applications

Helping organizations to quickly react to changing business and regulatory requirements and adapt processes in enterprise applications, SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) today announced SAP NetWeaver Decision Service Management. The software aims to allow organizations to move decision logic that determines the process behavior in enterprise applications into a central location. From there, SAP intends to enable business owners and IT experts to easily and instantaneously set up and change decision logic. The approach is planned to provide a cost-effective and simplified alternative to extensive application customizing, custom coding and application embedded business rules.
In the past, changes to decision logic in enterprise applications were done exclusively by IT experts. SAP NetWeaver Decision Service Management is intended to empower domain experts to define and change decision logic without any IT staff involvement. This aims to not only speed up changes in automated business processes, but also to improve the efficiency of IT and business staff within the organization. Additionally, SAP plans to enable users to continuously optimize the decision services and make them available without requiring costly downtime of the connected enterprise applications. To avoid time-consuming, error-prone duplication, it is planned that decision services being used by multiple connected enterprise applications will only need to be created once.
"The ability to react and adapt to new business requirements is more important now than ever," said Sethu M, deputy chief technology officer, SAP AG. "SAP NetWeaver Decision Service Management intends to give organizations the ability to continuously and quickly optimize their business processes by empowering business experts to implement and change automated operational decisions in enterprise applications."
To help organizations identify high-ROI opportunities, SAP has partnered with professional services firms such as Decision Management Solutions.
"Taking control of operational decisions is increasingly a source of competitive advantage," said James Taylor, CEO, Decision Management Solutions. By combining decision management technologies like SAP NetWeaver Decision Service Management and a decision-centric approach, we provide tremendous value to organizations by allowing them to take their existing systems to the next level and build the agile and adaptive systems they need to succeed."
SAP NetWeaver Decision Service Management is currently available via the SAP Ramp-Up program.
