Adam S. Cohen, special agent in charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Buffalo Division, announces a new digital billboard campaign. The campaign highlights an FBI reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the bank robbery and murder that occurred on August 12, 2003, at the Xerox Federal Credit Union in Webster, New York. Law enforcement has developed an interest in persons living in or associated with the greater Buffalo and Niagara Falls areas with ties to persons living in Rochester, New York. The FBI has partnered with Lamar Advertising to run digital billboards in Rochester, Buffalo, and Niagara Falls.
At approximately 9:45 a.m. on August 12, 2003, a male entered the credit union wearing a dark blue nylon jacket with the letters “FBI” written in yellow on the back and sleeves. The man also wore a bulletproof vest and a United States Marshals Service-style badge around his neck. He was wearing dark-colored sunglasses and a poorly fitting wig. After encountering resistance from an employee, the subject removed two firearms from a large briefcase. During the robbery, the subject shot two patrons, killing one and severely injuring another. The man then fled the credit union with the stolen money.
The person or persons responsible should be considered armed and dangerous.
