South Carolina IDN to implement an integrated clinical, financial and population health management platform
McLeod Health, a pre-eminent health care organization that serves more than 1 million South Carolinians across 15 counties, has selected Cerner, a global leader in health care technology, to implement a systemwide electronic health record (EHR) platform. Cerner will transition the enterprise’s seven acute hospitals and 90 ambulatory facilities from the INVISION® financial and Soarian clinical platforms to a comprehensive suite of integrated Cerner health IT solutions.
Cerner’s solutions and services will provide the clinical, financial and population health management infrastructure, processes and workflows to support the unique needs of McLeod Health’s more than 650 physicians and 1,600 nurses as they deliver a diverse array of services across the continuum of care.
“As a longstanding client of Siemens Health Services, we were eager for the opportunity to develop a relationship with Cerner after the acquisition. Since then, Cerner has demonstrated a commitment to McLeod, and we look forward to entering this new chapter as a Millennium and HealtheIntent client,” said Rob Colones, president and CEO, McLeod Health.
Cerner’s Millennium Revenue CycleTM, integrated with the Cerner Millennium® EHR, results in a Clinically Driven Revenue CycleTM that is designed to enhance the clinical and financial workflow of patient care services. Clinicians and staff will be enabled to streamline the billing process throughout the patient’s visit and enhance clinical documentation to help improve reimbursements and limit claims errors. Patients will experience a single bill and record throughout the health system, direct access to clinical results and visibility into their financial liability, all through a single source.
“We selected Cerner’s integrated platform of clinical, financial and population health management capabilities because we believe it’s one of the industry’s most robust health IT management offerings available,” said Jenean Blackmon, senior vice president and CIO of McLeod Health. “With Cerner, we will provide our physicians with sophisticated tools to develop a more holistic view of each individual’s health history by incorporating financial and community information with the clinical record.”
McLeod Health will also implement HealtheIntent?, Cerner’s source-agnostic population health management platform, which is designed to aggregate and normalize data from multiple sources. This process establishes a longitudinal record: a comprehensive, unified view of the individual’s health and care experiences across the continuum of care. McLeod will use this record to proactively identify gaps in care and analyze population- and enterprise-level data through the use of HealtheRegistries? and HealtheEDW?, Cerner’s registries and scorecards and enterprise data warehouse solutions.
“McLeod prides itself on continually reviewing and enhancing its programs, systems and processes with the goal to improve patient care and experiences. We are proud to continue our relationship and support this transition with our enhanced health IT foundation,” said Dick Flanigan, president of Cerner HS.
