NEW YORK; Nov. 19, 2015 – Accenture (NYSE: ACN) today announced that Adrian Lajtha, chief leadership officer, will retire from the company in February 2016. Ellyn Shook, who is currently chief human resources officer, will assume additional responsibilities for leadership development and succession planning; inclusion and diversity; and human capital strategy, becoming the company’s chief leadership & human resources officer on December 1, 2015. Omar Abbosh, chief strategy officer, will assume additional responsibilities for Accenture’s corporate citizenship initiatives upon Mr. Lajtha’s retirement in February.
“I am delighted that Ellyn will take on an expanded role leading several additional critical functions,” said chairman and CEO Pierre Nanterme. “As a talent-led organization, we see tremendous synergies in aligning all of our people-related initiatives under her leadership to ensure that we continue to attract, develop and retain the very best talent in our industry to serve our clients and lead our business.”
“In addition, an important part of our vision for market leadership is our commitment to advancing sustainable economic growth and competitiveness across the communities where we work and live. We believe that our highly effective corporate citizenship programs will benefit from Omar’s leadership as they become even more central to Accenture’s strategy.
“At the same time, I want to recognize and thank Adrian for his significant contributions to Accenture during his exceptional 36-year career with our company. In his role as chief leadership officer since 2007, Adrian has been instrumental in establishing many of the building blocks for Accenture’s future, including our first-ever human capital strategy, our leadership development program and our powerful corporate citizenship agenda built around Skills to Succeed. He has led our succession planning and inclusion and diversity agendas with purpose and impact. Adrian has also served in key client leadership roles, including group chief executive of our Financial Services operating group. Throughout his career, Adrian has been a committed and passionate advocate for our people and core values, and it has been my great pleasure to work closely with him over the years. On behalf of our senior leadership team and everyone at Accenture, I wish Adrian all the best in the future.”
