More Than 700 UnitedHealth Group Leaders Converge on Twin Cities for Day of Service
  • Community service project benefiting 40 Minneapolis-area nonprofits
  • People from UnitedHealthcare, Optum and UnitedHealth Group contribute more than 2,400 high-impact volunteer hours locally

MINNEAPOLIS (Oct. 01, 2015) — 
In a single afternoon, UnitedHealth Group, UnitedHealthcare and Optum executives fanned out across the Twin Cities yesterday for a day of service benefiting 40 Minneapolis-based nonprofit organizations.
This citywide community service project enabled UnitedHealth Group leaders to give back to the greater Minneapolis community. Volunteer activities ranged from preparing and serving meals in a homeless shelter, and interacting with patients at Children’s Hospital, to providing skills training to various community organizations. The community service project resulted in more than 2,400 high-impact hours of volunteer service.
The service project was conducted in partnership with Engine for Good, a Minneapolis-based organization that creates engaging and inspiring community experiences that leverage the skills of talented professionals in service to the greater good.
“Our partnership with UnitedHealth Group is making a tremendous impact on the communities where we live and work,” said Engine for Good CEO Jim Delaney. “By engaging with more than 40 local nonprofits, these leaders are helping nonprofits solve business challenges, fulfill their critical missions and make a difference.”
The area nonprofits that were part of the service project included: 360 Communities, Access Ability, Incorporated, Aeon, American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, ARC  American Refugee Committee, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Twin Cities, Catholic Charities of St. Paul and Minneapolis, Cheetah Development, Children's Cancer Research Fund, Children's HeartLink, Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, Community Emergency Assistance Programs (CEAP), Community Health Charities, Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute  Part of Allina Health, Epilepsy Foundation  Minnesota, FamilyWise, Feed My Starving Children, Fraser, Gilda's Club Twin Cities, Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery, Greater Twin Cities United Way, Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC), Hope Chest for Breast Cancer, International Medical Corps, Jeremiah Program, Junior Achievement of the Upper Midwest, Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota, Make-A-Wish Minnesota, Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD), Penny George Institute for Health and Healing  Part of Allina Health, People Serving People, Pinky Swear Foundation, Project SUCCESS, Reve Academy, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, The Y (YMCA), Tubman, and Washburn Center for Children.
