Germany's Jenoptik and Raytheon partner to produce new generators for global Patriot
Raytheon continues 30-year partnership with German industry
TEWKSBURY, Mass., April 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) is partnering with the Jenoptik subsidiary Lechmotoren, a part of the Jenoptik Defense & Civil Systems division, to produce advanced power generators for the Patriot Air and Missile Defense system. Under terms of this new contract, Jenoptik will build power plants, power generators, test equipment and spares for one of Patriot's global partners. Raytheon and Jenoptik are also discussing opportunities to supply power generation equipment for two additional Patriot partner nations, including one from NATO.

Additionally, Raytheon continues its long standing partnership with German industry in preparation for the TLVS program (Tactical Air Defense System 2020). The company's offer for the TLVS program includes the implementation with German industry of a next generation Patriot solution, which incorporates:
- A new Common Command and Control system that offers open architecture and flexible role based capability, which preserves the combat-proven functionality of Patriot and builds on its inherent NATO and European interoperability;
- Introduction of a 360-degree multi-function radar using the latest advanced radar technology to provide unmatched performance, unprecedented operational readiness and the lowest maintenance cost, and;
- A robust missile mix including PAC-3 MSE and IRIS-T SL capability that, when combined with the existing and upgraded missile inventory (GEM & PAC-3 CRI), allows Germany to use the most effective missile based on the threat being intercepted.
Patriot is designed with modular components allowing the system to be continually upgraded and modernized. Today, Patriot is the only combat-proven air and missile defense system, protecting German, U.S. and allied forces around the world. Its 13-nation global community, including five NATO nations and future Patriot partners, offers benefits through system enhancement, training, maintenance, testing, logistics and shared costs.
