Lockheed Martin to be Recognized at Luke's Wings Annual Hero Gala
Fundraiser aimed at reuniting wounded service members with their families
BETHESDA, Md., March 27, 2014 – Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] is being recognized as the presenting sponsor of the Luke’s Wings Annual Hero Gala, featuring Fashion Takes Flight. The gala, taking place on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at the Ritz-Carlton in Washington, D.C., is aimed at raising funds to reunite service members who have been wounded in the line of duty with their families during recovery.
All proceeds from the event will be used to purchase airplane tickets for hospitalized service members and their families. William B. Johnson, Jr., director of federal energy services for Lockheed Martin Information Systems & Global Solutions, will deliver brief remarks.
“Luke’s Wings is meeting a critical need for our wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans by enabling them to be with their families during their recovery,” said Johnson, a retired U.S. Air Force officer. “We are proud to support the Hero Gala and honored to be part of this very special evening.”
Luke’s Wings provides the means for family members to visit during their service member’s hospitalization and rehabilitation. This offers an immediate and invaluable service to our military and veterans while also helping to encourage and motivate recovery. Last year, Luke’s Wings reunited more than 500 wounded warriors with their families during their recovery. The charity also reunited World War II veterans in hospice care with their families.
The event will be emceed by Fox News host Shannon Bream and include a reception and formal program, followed by a runway show featuring wounded warriors, veterans and active duty service members.
