Union Pacific Named One of the 2013 Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles by National Business Group on Health
Omaha, Neb., May 24, 2013 – Union Pacific has been named one of the 2013 Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles from the National Business Group on Health (NBGH). The award honors U.S. companies for their ongoing commitment to promoting healthy work environments and encouraging employees to live healthier lifestyles. Union Pacific is the only railroad or transportation company to be recognized by the NBGH.
Union Pacific has received this honor every year since the award's inception in 2005.
"Health and wellness are crucial factors in our employees' safety, as well as the company's success," said Roy Schroer, Union Pacific vice president - Human Resources. "Union Pacific is honored to be recognized for our wellness efforts, and we remain committed to strengthening programs that support employees' well-being."
Union Pacific launched its wellness program more than 25 years ago. Since then, Union Pacific continues to expand tools available to help employees make healthy choices and assess and obtain intervention support for health risk factors.
