U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill is soliciting personal stories and advice from Missouri consumers on their experiences with so-called “resort fees” charged by hotels, which often help hide the true price consumers can expect to pay for their stay. McCaskill is asking for input as she urges the Federal Trade Commission to investigate and take steps to end this deceptive practice.
McCaskill is asking any consumer who has experienced deceptive, expensive hotel “resort fees” that misrepresent the true cost of a hotel stay to visit her website, www.McCaskill.senate.gov and use the “Submit Your Scam” web tool to tell their story.
