Johnson Controls honored with Platinum Award for 25th consecutive year by Plymouth Community United Way
PLYMOUTH, MICH., March 27, 2015 – Johnson Controls was honored with a special award today by the Plymouth Community United Way for its 25 years of support of the organization.
Johnson Controls, a global multi-industrial company, received the award in recognition of its 25 years of giving at the platinum-award level and its commitment to improving lives in the community. The Platinum Award is the highest level of giving that can be attained by contributors.
The award was presented at the United Way’s 2015 Annual Meeting and Awards Presentation to show appreciation for those who contributed to the United Way’s 2014-15 fundraising campaign and provided community service.
Johnson Controls’ Automotive Seating employees working at the company’s technical center in Plymouth donate not only monetarily during the United Way’s annual fund drive but give many hours of their private time to volunteer at United Way events.
“For 25 years, our employees have been generous supporters of this great organization and the outreach it provides to those in need,” said Mark Flynn, vice president Human Resources for Johnson Controls Automotive Seating, who accepted the award. “As a business based in Plymouth, our employees take their commitment to supporting the community very seriously.”
“We greatly appreciate the support of Johnson Controls,” said Marie Morrow, president of the Plymouth Community United Way. “Without this support, many services would have been cut or nonexistent including basic needs such as food, rent and utility assistance.”
The partnership began in the 1980s and the first Johnson Controls leader served on the United Way’s Board of Directors in 1990. The company’s Plymouth-based employees have contributed more than $7 million in the last 25 years. In addition, Johnson Controls co-sponsors an annual golf outing to raise funds and encourages volunteerism through its Community Involvement Program.
