Three New Vice Presidents Take the Reins at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control

ORLANDO, Fla., and DALLAS, May 29, 2014 – Lockheed Martin’s [NYSE: LMT] Missiles and Fire Control business has created two new vice president positions at its Orlando, Florida, facility, and filled a third vice president post at the company’s Grand Prairie, Texas, headquarters.

Rita C. Flaherty, a resident of Winter Garden, Florida, has been named Vice President-Strategy and Business Development for the Fire Control/Special Operations Forces Contractor Logistics Support Services line of business. She assumed her new duties on May 10. Flaherty has 17 years of business development experience with Lockheed Martin and United Technologies. She previously served in the U.S. Army, specializing in military intelligence. Flaherty holds a Bachelor of Science degree in English and Systems Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and a Master of Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Syracuse University.

Daniel S. Norton will assume the position of Vice President-Strategy and Business Development for Tactical Missiles/Combat Maneuver Systems. Norton brings 28 years of experience with Lockheed Martin, including leadership positions in business development, program management and Information Technology. His transition to the new position begins immediately. Norton is currently Vice President of U.K./Europe for Lockheed Martin IS&GS Global Solutions. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Central Florida. Norton is relocating from the U.K. to the Orlando area.

Michael L. Oates will assume the position of Vice President-Strategy and Business Development for the Air and Missile Defense line of business. His transition to the new job takes effect immediately. Oates moves from Lockheed Martin’s Washington Operations, where he has served as Vice President for Army and Special Operations Programs. Oates served in the U.S. Army for 32 years. His leadership positions included Lieutenant General and Director of the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization, and Commanding General-10th Mountain Division. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and completed a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies at the Naval War College. Oates will be located at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control in Grand Prairie, Texas. He replaces Orville Prins, who will retire in August after a distinguished 24-year career with Lockheed Martin.
