Johnson Controls Press Release:

Brazil's Viracopos International Airport to use Johnson Controls technology integration to advance passenger comfort and safety
$60 million project comes as airport renovates and expands prior to 2014 World Cup; continues recent Johnson Controls airport and stadium contract wins in the region
MILWAUKEENov. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Johnson Controls, a global multi-industrial company and leader in the buildings and automotive industries, will install and integrate all airport management systems as part of a renovation and expansion of the Viracopos International Airport in Campinas, Sao Paulo, Brazil. The project comes as the airport prepares for an expected influx of passengers for the FIFA 2014 World Cup to be held at locations throughout the country. Already amongBrazil's busiest airports, Viracopos will soon become one of the largest inSouth America.
This new project adds to nine other Johnson Controls renovation contracts with South American international airports, including seven inBrazil, El Dorado International in Bogota, Colombia, and Mariscal Sucre International in Quito, Ecuador.  Johnson Controls will also design and install advanced integrated security systems for 12 major soccer stadiums throughout Brazil in preparation for the World Cup.
Work at Viracopos began this year to renovate the existing terminal and construct a new one expected to handle 14 million passengers annually. Johnson Controls won the $60 million technology contract to create an environment resulting in a high level of passenger comfort, safety and convenience, along with lower energy and operational costs.
Johnson Controls will deploy and integrate 22 airport systems, including building management, security and fire systems, telecommunications infrastructure, flight information displays, baggage management, a resource management system and an airport operational database.
"These integrated systems will help make Viracopos a reference point for other international airports," said Marcelo Therezo, vice president and general manager, Johnson Controls, Building Efficiency in Brazil. "The systems we are installing there will enable what every passenger wants – a seamless airport experience that delivers easy access to flight information and smooth baggage retrieval – all in a comfortable, connected and safe environment."
Johnson Controls' technology contracting approach brings together individual systems into a total networked solution that lowers initial construction costs and decreases long-term operational and utility expenses. It also eliminates system and infrastructure duplication and dealing with multiple vendors by making Johnson Controls the single technology point of contact for the airport operator, Aeroportos Brasil Viracopos.
"By utilizing Johnson Controls technology services, Viracopos became the first airport in South America to use the company's advanced concepts, guaranteeing full integration of all airport systems," said Luiz Alberto Kuster, chief executive officer of Aeroportos Brasil Viracopos.
The new Viracopos terminal is expected to open in May 2014, a month ahead of the World Cup games.
