Software Enhancements to Leading Big Data Appliance Help Organizations Secure Data and Accelerate Strategic Business Insights

Oracle Big Data Appliance now offers integrated enterprise security with pre-configured Kerberos authentication, LDAP based authorization, and robust centralized auditing withOracle Audit Vault and Database Firewall.
By consolidating and analyzing the Hadoop audit trail, Oracle Audit Vault and Database Firewall can enforce policies to alert suspicious or unauthorized activities. Additionally, the consolidated audit data allows organizations to demonstrate the controls and generate the reports needed for regulatory compliance and audits.
Additionally, Oracle Big Data Appliance now includes updates to Hadoop, Oracle Big Data Connectors and Oracle NoSQL Database, which improve performance and scalability, and simplify management, enabling users to manage and analyze Big Data quickly and effortlessly, while minimizing risk. Features and functionalities include:
XQuery Processing in Hadoop: Oracle XQuery for Hadoop, a new addition to Oracle Big Data Connectors, enables standard XQuery operations to process and transform XML documents, executing in parallel across the Hadoop cluster.
Enhanced Predictive Modeling: The addition of generalized linear models and factor analysis algorithms to the Oracle R Connector for Hadoop coupled with 5x performance improvements in custom R-based MapReduce execution enable organizations to rapidly build complex predictive models with Big Data.
Faster Hadoop Processing: Perfect Balance, a new performance feature of Oracle Big Data Appliance, intelligently detects data skew and balances reducer loads, enabling faster MapReduce job execution.
Improved NoSQL Performance and Scalability: Available now, the latest version of Oracle NoSQL Database allows parallel data scans, significantly reducing the time spent on database scans. Oracle NoSQL Database now includes support for highly requested customer features, including multiple data centers to simplify and automate data distribution.
