Covisint, a Compuware Company, Powers a
Groundbreaking Health Information Exchange in Southeast Michigan
DETROIT, April 2, 2012
(GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Covisint, a
Compuware (Nasdaq:CPWR) company, announced today that the Detroit-based
Southeast Michigan Beacon Community (SEMBC) has selected Covisint's accountable care
technology to aggregate regional
health information into a comprehensive patient health record. The new
solution, called BeaconLink2Health,
will provide physicians with trusted, secure access and full visibility to
patient health records, while also calling their attention to specific areas of
concern, such as for elevated blood pressure or, for example, where a patient
is overdue for a test.
SEMBC's goal is to
utilize Covisint to help deliver higher quality
patient-centered care, lower healthcare costs and improve population health.
"As a Beacon Community, our objective with BeaconLink2Health is to help
build and strengthen the health information technology infrastructure and
exchange for the community, delivering a new level of sustained care quality
and efficiency for years," said Terrisca Des Jardins, Director of the
Southeast Michigan Beacon Community. "The Southeast Michigan Beacon
Community is helping position our region and state as leaders in innovative
health solutions."
To support the
development and launch of BeaconLink2Health, Covisint technology is being used
to develop and manage the clinical data repository, community level
evidence-based care gaps and alerts, single sign-on technology and care
coordination tools.
"Covisint
consistently delivers on its accountable care promise:
measurably improving community and individual care outcomes through
technology," said David McGuffie, Covisint President and COO. "This is yet another
Beacon success, and since it's in my own backyard, is of personal importance to
me. Covisint provides the accountable care horsepower that healthcare's key
stakeholders need."
Southeastern Michigan Beacon Community (SEMBC)
The Southeast Michigan
Beacon Community (SEMBC) is one of 17 Beacon Communities established in the
United States by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information
Technology (ONC). Detroit was awarded a $16 million federal cooperative agreement
from the ONC in September 2010 to fund this major initiative. It is the goal of
the SEMBC to help demonstrate the vision of a future where hospitals,
clinicians and patients are meaningful users of health IT, and together as a
community, achieve measureable improvements in health care quality, safety,
efficiency and population health. For more information, visit www.sembc.org.
