Rockwell Collins to launch new airborne mission computers at ILA Berlin Air Show
BERLIN (May 19, 2014) – Rockwell Collins is featuring a number of new products, including the launch of its new FMC-4000 series of flight and mission computers, at the ILA Berlin Air Show 2014 taking place May 20-25.
A detailed announcement about the FMC-4000, which leverages the company’s proven expertise as one of the largest suppliers of mission computers, will be issued on the first day of the show, and product demonstrations will be taking place at the Rockwell Collins exhibit (Hall 2, Stand 2104).
“The new FMC-4000 modular portfolio brings unique flexibility and easy upgradability for mission computing across a wide range of military and civil aircraft,” said Claude Alber, vice president and managing director, Europe, Middle East and Africa for Rockwell Collins. “It’s especially exciting to be unveiling this new product at the Berlin Air Show since this product line was developed in our Heidelberg, Germany, facility, which serves as Rockwell Collins European Center of Excellence for Fighter and Trainer aircraft and mission computers.”
For military customers in the region, Rockwell Collins will also showcase a new cockpit concept for fighters using a single large area display designed to reduce pilot workload while improving situational awareness. A similar display is also applicable on trainer aircraft to facilitate pilot training.
Other demonstrations include:
- The HeliSure™ family of products, a unique portfolio that combines 3D visualization, displays, sensors and databases together to provide enhanced situational awareness for helicopters.
- The Talon™ next-generation programmable software defined radio, designed to give military customers advanced features, technology and growth capabilities. This series of receiver-transmitters features a digital radio architecture that allows easy reprogramming with different waveforms and operating modes through the use of digital signal processing technology.
- The 721S Fixed Site VHF-UHF Radio Transceiver, a flexible solution for stand-alone receivers, transmitters or transceivers offering users reliable, long-range communications that can optimize for highly congested operational conditions. 721S is ideal for command and control operations.
- The TacNet™ Tactical Radio (TTR) features small size, selectable power output, superior range, integration friendly design requiring no air cooling and adaptability to any warfare environment. TTR is integral to protecting the force by virtue of providing warfighters with a common operating picture through Link 16 networked communications. Platforms and users that can benefit from the radio include unmanned aerial systems, rotary wing aircraft, forward air controllers, military vehicles, mobile and transportable ground stations and small maritime assets that have not previously had access to Link 16 capability.
